Agricultural properties open to the public in Mas-Thibert

Isle Saint-Pierre wine estate
Located on the banks of the Rhône a few kilometers from Mas-Thibert, the Isle Saint-Pierre estate was created in 1927 and today covers 170 hectares. The work in the vineyard respects traditional methods, without any recourse to chemical weedkillers and in particular uses a flock of sheep present all year round on the estate to obtain a natural fertilizer. The cellar is open all year round and the vineyard can be visited on foot thanks to the installation of a photo trail around the cellar.

Domaine Les Bastidettes
This family farm, in place for 3 generations, is located in the Plaine de la Crau, near the village of Mas-Thibert, and covers an area of ​​approximately 50 hectares.
The estate has more than 55,000 olive trees, and the 20 varieties grown on the farm come exclusively from the Mediterranean region.
Les Bastidettes adheres to the Quality Charter “Mediterranean Nutrition in Provence” for the production of olive and olive oil, and is currently being converted to organic farming.


House of hunting and nature
The purpose of this museum space is to present to the public the art of hunting and the natural riches of  Crau, Camargue and Alpilles.
In addition to the discovery of the regional natural heritage, it allows to bring together the different nature lovers through a common objective of conservation. Free admission.

Ecomuseum of the Crau
Located in a former sheepfold, in the heart of the town of Saint-Martin de Crau, it offers you to discover all the riches of Crau, thanks to a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions, the discovery of the  Coussouls trail, and a shop.

The Camargue Museum
Located in the old sheepfold of the Mas du Pont de Rousty, the Camargue Museum presents a new exhibition entitled “The thread of water … the thread of time in the Camargue”. Man’s relationships with nature through the delta’s specific human activities are traced from the 19th century to the present day. The museum’s rich photographic collection, as well as films shot in the Camargue, are projected in a space entirely dedicated to image.

Natural protected areas open to the public

Palissade area
Owned by the Conservatoire du littoral, the Palissade estate is located at the mouth of the Big Rhône, outside the dikes. Subject to river floods and marine invasions, the Estate testifies to the original functioning of the lower Camargue. Its mission is to ensure the conservation of the natural heritage and to open the estate to the public, subject to its preservation, on foot or on horseback.

Capelière Information Center
On the banks of the Vaccarès pond, La Capelière is located in an old Camargue farmhouse surrounded by marshes. You will find the administrative center of the Camargue National Reserve, the nature information center, a naturalist “shop”, permanent exhibitions about nature in Camargue, a projection room, 1.5 km of nature trail presenting the different landscapes of Camargue, and disabled access in the exhibition and inside 2 of the 4 observatories.

Etang des Aulnes
Property of the General Council of the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Estate houses an old Provencal-style building with its various annexes, a residence for artists and an open-air concert hall. The foundations of this 300 hectares estate, located in the heart of La Crau, date from 1213. Its setting is quite remarkable: a large alley lined with oleanders and pines leads to a wooded park whose lawns descend to a lake . The opposite bank, still wild, remains the refuge of migratory birds.

The Mas du Pont de Rousty trail
This 3.5 km discovery trail, accessible from the Camargue Museum, presents the area’s agricultural activities, crops, pastures, marshes, around a gardian’s hut.


Ornithological collection of the Saint-Louis Tower
Located on the 1st floor of the Saint Louis Tower, it is the largest ornithological collection in Camargue. Identified and classified by natural environment, 168 birds find their place in the display cases, at the heart of the panels and other technical sheets. A map lists the different environments present on our territory to allow visitors, then, to go and observe these birds in the wild.
